en attendant moco
2025
En attendant moco is a work born of a range of references. Departing from a typically refined and technically sophisticated aesthetic that often incorporates digital and electronic methods, the work instead embraces a more rudimentary approach, using classic animatronic techniques and material experimentation. The theme centers on boredom, irritation, and impatience, conveyed through both form and motion. The repetitive gesture of fingers drumming on a table evokes a universally recognized sign of dwindling patience. The pinkish red color of the fingernails suggests a feminine sensibility—sophisticated and open, yet sharp enough to suggest that her patience has limits.
En attendant moco is intended to echo the theatrical piece En attendant Godot, referencing a suspended state of waiting, specifically in relation to MO.CO., Montpellier’s cultural institution that brings together several contemporary art spaces under a single identity. The feeling of alienation and inertia sometimes experienced by those positioned outside established cultural networks is here expressed through the language of impatience. While moco is cited in the title, the work gestures more broadly toward a shared condition—one that concerns many artists navigating complex institutional landscapes.
