IRIS

2023

Among multiple works developed in 2023 at the studio in Montpellier, IRIS was created in contrast to the rest. As my body of work at this time is often small-scale, fragile and meditative, I sought to counterbalance this tendency with adrenaline and speed. Using a motor destined for a drone, a display of programmable lights swings at varying speeds around a central axe. The techniques employed to create a device destined for persistence of vision in this case are admittedly excessive. The result is a colorful centrifuge capable of obtaining extreme and unsettling velocities.
